In case you are wondering, the house in Fruita has a paved pad next to the garage. There is power and water right there, and the door to the camper opens right into the side door on the garage.
It’s quite convenient, and we use the camper as a spare room when we have guests.
This year has involved more work travel and less adventure travel so far. Although we miss living in the camper and waking up to expansive views, we’ve been getting a lot done and enjoying meeting new friends in our new little town.
I am particularly stoked for the new bike path getting built extending west to the Kokopelli trailhead. Not only will this mean we can ride from the house to the Kokopelli trails, but we can also ride our CX bikes out there and use gravel roads to get out on the old Highway 6 and ride into Utah, while dealing with almost no traffic at all.
It’s been a year since we moved to Fruita, after almost a year living in the truck. We feel like we have at least another year of “camper life” in us. We have plans to spend more of this summer living in the camper and exploring parts of Colorado and Wyoming that we typically just drive through.
We will be at Overland Expo, in May. We decided to volunteer and experience it in a different way. We’ve been assigned shifts at the new Visitor Center; and our job will be helping people figure out how to make the most of their Overland Expo experience. We’ve been to most of the Expos (West) and feel like we have a good perspective on all of what there is to do or see. So many visitors just focus on the exhibitors, and miss out on other areas. We had a Skype call recently and got the highlights of this years’ Expo..it will be really great and an improvement over last year. (Which was, IMHO a HUGE improvement over Mormon Lake).
We always look forward to going, as we’ve made so many friends, it’s become kind of a family reunion.
If you plan on going, look us up at the Visitor Center on the north side, in the big silver trailer. And Gus will be parked somewhere.
